Kim Stiles is an active educator and violinist in New Jersey. She currently holds the position of Strings and Chorus Program Director with the Red Bank Borough Schools in Red Bank, NJ. She initiated the Red Bank strings program in 2007 as a part of the district’s performing arts department expansion. Prior to this, she ran a private studio and taught for six years in the Clifton Public Schools as a strings teacher, developing the strings program and increasing enrollment fourfold. In 2007, she was awarded the Excellence in Education Award by the Clifton Teachers Association.

Upon graduating from Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory with a B.A. in Music, she took a job as music teacher in the inner-city Catholic schools of Cleveland, OH. It was then that she decided to make music education her career. She received her Master of Music Education degree with an emphasis in strings from Florida State University in 2001. During this time, she also taught undergraduate guitar classes at FSU, coached sectionals for the Tallahassee Symphony Youth Orchestra and played in the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. After continued post-graduate studies at Montclair State University, she now holds a NJ Supervisor’s Certificate.

A native of Caldwell, NJ she grew up playing violin in the school orchestras and the NJ Region I and All-State Orchestras. She studied violin with Joseph Gluck, Gary Kosloski and Julian Ross. She now plays violin professionally throughout the area and tries to engage as many children as possible in playing strings and loving music.
